Wey uses a lot of Pro Circuit goodies.

According to Motosport.com team mechanic Randy Mahoney, Nick Wey is extremely picky about chassis setup and suspension. Wey’s been around for a while, and definitely knows what he likes in a race bike. Pro Circuit does all the suspension work on Wey’s Motosport.com KX450F, starting with factory A-Kit components

“Nick generally runs really stiff forks, but on the back end, he’s more in the ballpark with the rest of the guys,” says Mahoney. “But for sure, he likes the forks a little bit former.”

Wey also changes the rear shock linkage, something that Pro Circuit came up with, to allow the bike to sit a little lower than stock.

“He cuts the rear sub-frame down a little, which also makes it sit lower in the rear, and then he runs a seat hump so he can hold on,” adds Mahoney.

The team also relies on Pro Circuit to provide the full exhaust system.

Wey uses a full Wiseco clutch assy.

As for engine components, the team uses a full Wiseco clutch assembly, which includes basket, hub and pressure plate.

Wey ran Pro Circuit triple clamps during Supercross that were a little bit tighter for better turning, but for the outdoor series he has gone back to the stock clamps. According to Mahoney, the rear wheel is all the way back in its adjustment to give the bike a longer wheelbase, making it a little bit more stable at speed.

Wey runs the stock Kawi triple clamps.

With the higher speeds of the outdoor series in mind, the team runs Sunstar sprockets and the gearing is changed from Supercross to give a little more top end speed.

Other components include ARC clutch perch assemblies on each side, a Hammerhead brake pedal, which has been beefed up for durability. Nick uses a stiffer return spring on it for a firmer feel.

Wey also uses a Hammerhead Holeshot device, and Lightspeed carbon fiber guards, including the skid plate.

Excel 860 rims with Talon carbon fiber hubs centers increases durability ten-fold, according to Mahoney.

As far as braking, Wey likes the Brembo over-sized and vented front brake rotors, which makes for a lot of stopping power and better feel.

Finally, Wey uses Pro Taper bars and is very particular about where he places them.
