Because Yamaha no longer runs a full Factory team, there are only Yamaha support teams or full privateers running blue. This year Star Racing and Vali Motorsports have joined forces and aligned themselves with Rockstar Energy Drink. Also, with support from Yamaha and their accessory division GYTR, the team is very solid with both 450 and 250 riders.

Nico Izzi rides probably one of the few carbureted motorcycles in the field, the YZ250F. Not to say his bike is not trick, it is. The Izzi ride is a broad mix of aftermarket parts, Yamaha GYTR accessories and a few works parts from Yamaha or carry over works parts from the years past.

For a Lites bike, Izzi’s mount is built to the hilt while still within the rule book. As you can see Rockstar Energy helps pay the bills and the team gets support from Yamaha and their GYTR accessory division.

Ride Engineering sponsors the team and offers special bored out clamps for the oversized kit fork. Ride has several different offsets and an optional steering damper that team riders have the option to run. The team also uses Cycra wraparound front number plate over the stock units for further roost protection. The carbon wrap on the fork is to hold the transponder for AMA scoring.

Up front the KYB kit fork has billet fork clamps while Excel rims hold Dunlop tires and Braking rotors which slow the bike down. On the left, ARC is a big player in supercross and supplies the team with levers and perches.

Vortex programmable ignition boxes are part of the mods and they also run a two position button on the handlebar to possibly change maps during the race or change maps for starts. To the right, GYTR sprockets and axle blocks. Notice how far back the team runs the rear axle, it’s pretty much maxed out.

The team uses Raptor titanium footpegs with production peg mounts and shifter. To the left a Moto Tassinari airboot replaces the stock unit and venting has been cut into the airbox to allow the DT filter to take deeper breaths.

The engine shows a Yamaha GYTR head, a manual cam chain tensioner and what looks to be a works or some sort of billet engine cover. There could also be some other trick parts from Yamaha inside the motor. This mill has been around for some time so we guess there has been a lot of development done by Yamaha and they know by now what works and what doesn’t. To protect the belly of the engine Light Speed offers up this trick carbon fiber glide plate.

A Ride Engineering wishbone link is bolted up to a billet, possibly works knuckle before attaching to the KYB Enzo-tuned kit shock. The right side of the engine sports a GYTR clutch/clutch cover as well as a Pro Circuit exhaust header. ICW braced radiators replace the stock coolers. Also notice an array of titanium hardware and Ride brake clevis.

Pro Circuit redesigned their exhaust for 2012 with a new carbon fiber end cap.
