Chisholm Crowned 2011 Bercy King
Chisholm is the 29th King of Bercy
The 29th Supercross of Bercy ‘fueled by Monster Energy’ celebrated a great winner, as Kyle Chisholm finally won the King of Bercy title. Tight with Eli Tomac in the classification before the last race of the weekend, Chisholm was stronger than his young rival. Justin Barcia won this last night, followed by Jake Weimer and Kyle.
It’s a nice page in the history of Bercy that Chisholm writes this weekend; injured this season and without a ride for next campaign, Kyle came to Bercy just with a pipe in his luggage to adapt on a Yamaha provided by the promoter. With one podium each night – second on Friday, winner on Saturday and third on Sunday – Kyle confirmed his potential and was the most consistent of the American riders! Justin Barcia and Jake Weimer who both struggled the previous nights dominate this last event, but with a third place behind the Honda Geico and the Monster Kawasaki riders Chisholm secured his overall win. Tomac was a strong opponent, but a bad start in the last race of the weekend cost him all his chances; coming back fifth of the race, he missed the overall by two points! Nick Wey lost a podium opportunity with a crash in the last final race, and thanks to his second position tonight Weimer came third overall, followed by Mike Alessi and Cédric Soubeyras. The Frenchman was the best European rider, as Gregory Aranda had a big crash in a tunnel and suffers a concussion. The Americans were too strong this year in Bercy, and dominate the individual and the team’s classification!
