Ryan Villopoto finally reached his own personal, secret goal of winning a 450 Main Event - and he did it in front of his "home town crowd". While Ryan's actually from nearby Poulsbo, WA (just across Puget Sound on a little island), he and his family haven't spent much time up there in the past several years. Based now out of Southern California, Ryan always gets a chuckle when people call Washougal his hometown National, since he hasn't ridden there since his early 85cc days.

But back to the point, and the point is: RV2 rode his cojones off in Seattle, and was able to pressure his old rival Mike Alessi into a mistake while leading the main and put a gap on Davi Millsaps to remain in the lead. Despite knowing that Stewart was coming on fast, Ryan rode mistake-free on a track absolutely riddled with land mines waiting to take him down. He put down lap after lap that was equal to or faster than what Stewart was doing, and that's what got him to the line first. By the way, this was Ryan's first race back from an illness that first started affecting him in Indy but that really hit home several weeks ago in New Orleans.
