Cole Seely Interview

11.23.2011 // 0 Comments

TLD/Lucas Oil Honda’s Cole Seely is still early on in his career as a contender in the pro ranks. In his two years with the team, he went from an occasional podium finisher in supercross in 2010 to a winner of two rounds in 2011. He also spent some time filling in at the Honda factory team in 2011 with some solid results in the 450 class. Outdoors, though, didn’t go as well for him as he would’ve hoped. We caught up with him at the Honda test track recently as he prepares for 2012; his third year with the Lucas Oil/TLD Honda team.

Andrew Short Interview

11.21.2011 // 3 Comments

After many, many years with the Honda factory team, Andrew Short made a move to KTM in 2011 and raced the 350 SX/F. But after a year with mostly disappointing finishes and a big injury, breaking both elbows and one wrist in a testing crash, Short has returned to Honda, albeit for the newly formed team run by Larry Brooks and Jeremy McGrath. Still, he’ll be racing a factory Honda CRF450R, just like the one he had been racing with success the last few years prior to 2011. We caught up with Shorty at the Honda test track as he prepared for the 2012 season.

Blake Wharton Interview

11.15.2011 // 0 Comments

Blake Wharton was a top amateur prospect not too long ago racing for the Factory Connection team. Like Justin Barcia and Eli Tomac after him, and Trey Canard before him, Wharton was picked up as an amateur by the Factory Connection-owned GEICO Honda and then was brought up into the pro ranks through the Factory Connection system. He has actually won in the pro class, but recently it’s been tougher on him. After sitting out the entire 2011 outdoor season following shoulder surgery, Wharton is going back after it, but now as a part of the Rockstar Energy Suzuki team.

2012 250 Silly Season Update

11.11.2011 // 0 Comments

Because the 250 (or Lites) class is, sort of by design and definition, a support class in motocross and supercross racing, it also goes to reason that silly-season stuff is considerably less silly, as the racers aren’t as big of stars, and there isn’t the same kind of money on the line. However, that’s not to say that it doesn’t matter, because it does. The 250 class has a direct bearing on the future of the 450 class. One of the biggest stories for 2012 in the 450 class was Ryan Dungey moving from Rockstar/Makita Suzuki, where he also spent his entire 250 career, to the 450 class. Dungey moved up to the 450 class in 2010, and only two years later he was probably the biggest story of the off-season. That being said, here’s a breakdown of what we know about the 2012 250/Lites-class lineups, alphabetized by bike brand, to complement our 450 Silly Season post.
