Lots of flags here, folks. A record 37 nations have signed up to race this year in Italy. The facility and track are located east of Milan, near Brescia in the Lombardy region at the foot of the Alps. Again within the confines of a road racing circuit, the track is a lot supercrossy and a bit outdoorsy with a good-sized sand section thrown in. It looks good at this point.

The jumps are big and plentiful here at Autodromo Di Francicorta, with some huge tabletops mixed in with medium-sized rhythm sections and an overall pretty interesting layout.

Just to make things interesting, there's an entire section of 2' deep sand. While it doesn't quite replicate what the GP riders experience at tracks like Lierop and Lommel, it will at least add some spice to the action and make tire selection a bit more difficult.

Turn 2 is preceded by a section of rollers before a large tabletop that heads into a fairly large rhythm section. After that, the riders hit the sand and take off for the rest of the circuit.

Ryan Dungey and his parents strolled the pits prior heading up to the press conference. Ryan looked calm, cool and ready to rip on the 450 for the first time outdoors.

The U.S. team is not under the same roof this year, no doubt due to every rider being on a different US team.

Ivan Tedesco is working out of the HM Honda pit, a regional Italian Honda team (we think).

The Australian team looks more like Team USA than Team USA does. Well, almost, as Mike Gosselaar pushes Reed's bike to tech inspection on Friday afternoon.

We follow Reed's bike through testing, seen here during the FIM sound check. The team tried 3 different exhaust cannisters in the process. We think we heard a "91db" reading mumbled between the officials, well within the limit.

Reedy's bike gets weighed, just like all of them will. Not sure the weight limit in FIM competition, but Chad's bike made it through without a hitch.

As expected, Team Italy received a lot of media attention, not the least of which because they're the home team. A real threat for this year's win, the team consists of newly crowned MX1 GP Champion Antonio Cairoli, David Phillipaerts (4th in MX1 series points) and Davide Guarneri (4th in MX2 series).

As the shirt says, they are not "Gangstars", they are Russians. Alrighty then.

Our prediction is that Jake Weimer will have more trouble from Ken Roczen than from Marvin Musquin, the newly crowned champ. This 16 year old Germany rider is a blast to watch ride, with a style reminiscent of Barcia's.

This is why Youthstream have opted to use existing road facilities with purpose-built tracks on the infield - facilities. Lots of parking for the teams, spectators and media, and an overall more pleasurable experience for everyone involved.
