Geico Powersports/Kawasaki KX450F-mounted Paul Whibley shot to the front at the start and led nearly the entire race. Briefly passed by Husqvarna rider (and fellow Aussie) Glenn Kearney, who crashed shortly thereafter, Whibs and teammate Jimmy Jarrett ran 1-2 for the entire 3 hours to finish in that order. With the win, Whibley takes over the points lead from Team FMF/Suzuki Off-Road's Josh Strang.

Kanney, who's one of the few KTM factory XC1 off-road racers this year, was considered a favorite for the title by most everyone in the pits. Problem is, there's a lot of favorites and after a couple of hard crashes here in Ohio, Kanney eventually DNF and dropped to 6th in points.

Californian Kurt Caselli continues to search for his groove in the eastern woods. He didn't find it in Ohio, that's for sure, and it's coming as a surprise to not only him but to many of his supporters. Casellli's talent has been tested world-wide, where he's succeeded at a couple of ISDE's as well as in the WORCS and Best in the Desert series out west. Caselli ended up 6th, and sits 7th in season points.

Top AMA Arenacross series racer Nathan Skaggs decided to try his hand at GNCC racing, likely because it was just a few miles down the road from his house. Nathan went out with no bark busters, a bone-stock YZ450F, and a flat tire on the 2nd to last lap to end up in 8th place by the end.

New Husaberg rider Jesse Robinson made a switch from his regular Kawasaki to begin racing a factory-supported Husaberg 570. That's an awful lot of power to handle in the woods, and Robinson's day ended with a DNF. The other Husaberg, typically ridden by Dustin Gibson, was a DNS.

Ohioan Jimmy Jarret was right at home in the southern Ohio woods, running a very strong 2nd to teammate Whibley's lead for the entire race. After following right on Whibs' fender for 2.5 hours, Jarrett ran into a lapper on the final lap and went down, remounting easily to finish 2nd for the day, putting him into 4th in points.

Every rider is required to take on gas during a GNCC, and they typically use it as a chance for a quick water and change of goggles and/or gloves. XC2 winner Kailub Russell and team members demonstrate.
