That's what seems to be going through LItes West points leader Ryan Dungey, who opened up the gap between himself and second place Jake Weimer. Dungey was up 2 points coming in, but made up 7 more to leave with a 9 point lead heading into next weekend's final West Lites round in Salt Lake.

While he didn't exactly DOMINATE the West like many figured he would, Dungey was easily the equivalent of Pourcel in his region. Throughout the series, Ryan D. was able to keep a solid average by going 3-1-1-2-4-1-1, which is quite a bit better than Pourcel did - and arguably against tougher competition. Dungey is also a favorite for the outdoor title, not to mention the East/West shootout coming up in Vegas the first weekend in May.

Weimer was probably the surprise of the series, in which he was pretty much the second fastest guy MOST of the time, and the fastest guy SOME of the time. He definiitely kicked it up a notch from last year on the Geico Honda team, although let's not forget he also managed a win there, too. Going 1-4-3-1-1-3-4, those two off-podium finishes pretty much made the difference in points that we see now (and one of them happened in Phoenix, which he won last year). To add insult to injury, it's rumored that Weimer sustained an injury while testing this week, which will not only take him out of this points chase but will probably affect his outdoor season as well.

Oh whoa is he, oh Speed-e. Chad struggled all day, and that may or may not have been to being sick, but the truth will never be known. Clearly, Chad was not on his game though and was never a threat to win - in fact, he didn't win anything at all, all day long. A fall in his heat put him way back, but he was able to get into 2nd behind Tedesco before the checkers, plus a hard crash just before the first turn which left him dead last pretty much spelled the end for Reed's night - and quite possibly, his title hopes. His run to the front in the main was pretty impressive though, but it wasn't near what he needed to maintain his narrow 3 point lead on Stewart. Leaving Seattle, Reed is now 3 points behind Stewart, as the two went 7-2 in Seattle.

Who'd have thunk that Mike Alessi would be running (more than one lap) at the front of a supercross race this season? Well, he did it in Seattle, and he was looking very solid while doing so. Decidedly an outdoorsy type track, what with the wacky soil and ever-changing lines, Mike really seemed to meld with the mess all day and night long. Of course he snagged the holeshot, but unlike normal, he actually stayed up there before a small bobble on lap 8 allowed both RV and Millsaps to get by. Of course Stewart wasn't far behind, but Mikey held on for 4th, and that's gotta feel good as the sport turns toward his specialty: The Great Outdoors.

Canard has had a tough season, no doubt about it. He must've used up all of his good luck last year when he won the LItes East title in his rookie attempt (not to say he didn't earn it, because he certainly did). However, this year it's all been going backwards for him - but one thing he can say is he's shown some impressive speed. In Seattle, he was gunning for the win in his heat against Ryan Morais when he lost the front-end in a sloppy corner. The same exact thing happened in the main just after passing Morais to move into 2nd. He no doubt was thinking ahead of hunting down Dungey out front, but the dirt got the best of him. Canard will be strong outdoors, no doubt about that.

Josh Grant is now sitting 4th in points - way behind Short in 3rd, and just 4 points ahead of Kdub in 5th. Mike Alessi is only 1 behind Windham, and Tedesco is only 4 back from Alessi. What this means is this is a very hotly contested pack of series finishing positions, with only 9 points separating 4th - 7th. Grant was really good in Seattle and seemed quite at home and fast on the track, despite not riding much (if at all) since his injury in Jacksonville two weeks before.

Jake Moss really had an impressive night in Seattle. To say he turned heads would be an understatement, as he easily won his heat race (by 6 seconds over Dungey), then went from 2nd to 3rd to 4th to finish up 5th in the Main Event. Not bad for a kid who was affraid he'd never walk again just 6 months ago...

Jimmy Albertson finally made his debut on the Troy Lee Designs Honda CRF250R. Most people had either written him off or completely forgotten about him by now, but fact is, he's been ready to race for quite a while - it's just been a long time since the West has had a race for him to enter. Jimmy looked good, that much is for certain, as he came back after a long hiatus to run 6th-7th all night and end up 7th.

Justin Brayton had a night he'd rather forget. Despite looking good in practice, he wasn't able to jibe with the gnarly track and went down hard in his heat race after just 3 laps on the track. He toughed it out for the LCQ though, but was clearly ailing and could only muster an 11th place. Not the type of night the guy sitting 4th in points was looking for, no doubt.

It was one of those rare and fun-filled main events when James Stewart got stuck way in the back and went on a mad tirade to get up front ASAP. He looked to be having a blast while doing it, that much is for sure - and after rounding the first turn in last place (although still ahead of Reed), there was plenty of action for the Speed TV cameras to follow while James made his way through.

James' final pass of the evening was on Davi Millsaps, who'd been running nice and happy in 2nd and 3rd for the duration when James came and ruined it. Regardless, Davi still stood on the podium next to the winner RV and 2nd place Stewart, which was no doubt sweet after the season he's had so far. What's amazing that despite three 3rd place finishes and finishing every single main event, Millsaps is still only 9th in the points. A model of inconsistency has been the story of Davi's season.

Qwest Field was the place to be in Seattle last weekend. An open-air football stadium in the Pacific Northwest just seems...well, dumb. Chilly, rainy, cold, drizzly, windy, sleety, brisk - these are just a few of the adjectives used to describe spring weather in the area, but Feld must've paid off the right Gods this weekend, as the weather for the race night was perfecto (even if a little chilly). The dirt, though, was another story...
