Matt put in a great ride on a very physically demanding track, coming from 17th to 8th for his best finish ever.

It’s utterly amazing to us that Branden’s only made it onto one podium this year, and time’s running out – the series ends this weekend in Jacksonville. Look for Brando to be gunning for a win.

Josh seemed to be playing with everyone all night long. He came from 11th to 3rd in the main, passing Windham, Alessi, Grant, Millsaps, etc.

Tyler Bowers was another regular on the rutty/nasty track circuit before coming to race AMA Supercross. Bowers, who’s originally from Ohio, literally grew up cutting his teeth on the crummiest, crappiest dirt and tracks imaginable, so he should’ve fit right in.

Ben was an absolutely dominant European SX rider the previous few years, and that means he’s good on damp, rutty, rough supercross tracks since that’s very typical on the Euro SX tour. But for some reason, Coisy wasn’t a factor at all and seemed to struggle more than even die-hard SoCal riders who rarely see ruts.

Not so happy about that title was Pourcel’s teammate, Austin Stroupe. Stroupe-Loop pretty much rockstar’d the whole scene until he was more or less forced to participate in the team celebration photo on the podium. You can see here that he wasn’t thrilled, and not once did we see him offer up any sort of congratulations to Pourcel, who’s win was nothing short of a miracle.

Since we’re on the subject of podium stuff, major props and ten bonus points to Broc Tickle, for getting up there on the gnarliest track of the series.

For pit areas, there were two options in Toronto – in or out. Out was a great option, since the weather was unseasonably beautiful and warm – in the 50’s – but the downside was there was no real crowd control at all.

Not so much a wacky paint job as a wacky addition to the helmet, Scuba Steven Clarke is running his own personal tribute to Davi Millsaps in the form of a leopard skin helmet donut.

Sometimes it’s not so much about what’s going on with the helmet, as what’s going on beneath the helmet. Case in point: Blake Wharton. That hair is only part of the story here though, as he pulled off after the first practice and looked thoroughly dazed and confused, as seen here.

The indoor option was probably a bit safer, but what a bummer it must’ve been to be stuck in that long, dark hallway when it was such a great day outside.

We were also on helmet patrol in Toronto, as there seemed to be a bunch of new paintjobs on some of the top guys. Here’s one of the more interesting designs, modeled by Star Racing’s Darryn Durham.

Skull Candy makes those over-the-top (style-wise) headphones that kids these day are wearing, and you can see that theme echoed here in the paint of Matt’s lid. Pretty cool looking.

Chris Pourcel chose this fresh, sharp intermediate Bridgestone, sans the reinforcements and additional cutouts on the knobs. The result? He won going away.

Ivan Tedesco may not have won the best race-face contest (that clearly goes to Tommy Hahn as evidenced by the photo above), but he almost won a heat race!
