Help i cant hang on !!!

I ride desert and trail more than anything but am starting to ride tracks for the first time in almost 18 years (had a really bad crashing jumping a triple). Since back on tracks now my palms feel like someone hit them with a hammer. I do have arm pump slightly but feel more like buises. Any tips?

Try not gripping the bars too tight. Sometimes on tracks riders get nervous, but just remember to grip with your legs more than your hands. This will help you relax your arms a bit more and help a little with arm pump. In the end, though, it just takes riding tracks more often and getting more comfortable.

Thanks BLUTES. Yeah i am working on the track rythm again. I think i am putting to much weight on my palms hence the bruised feelings. I only tense up when my butt is headed up the lip otherwise i am not doing bad for 18 years later. LOL. Might have to take the old stead to Milestone Sat morning. Elsinore is just to bad to ride. Thanks for the tips.

You might also try some griping exercises with a 5lb dumbbell. Let the weight roll down from the pal of your hand to your fingers. Flexion/extensions exercises at the wrist can also help.

Try Stretching your forearms daily and warming the forearm muscle before you ride, like get a hot water bottle and put it on your arm.

I did start doing the forarm extensions with a weight last week. I rode a new bike instead of my albatross on Sat and did not have as much pump or pain in my palms. I was able to go twice as long before the pain set in. I also worked really hard on breathing, form, smooth on and off the throttle. These have all helped thanks everyone.

had an old school rider back in 1985 teach me a way to strengthen your arms and wrists in one shot...

get a stick , a piece of string and a 1 or 2 lb weight..

attach the string to the middle of the stick and the other side to the weight now with your arms held straight ahead in front of you roll and unroll the weight by turning the stick (much like the throttle) roll the stick untill the weight almost hits the ground and roll it back up to the top...

don't get cheap and let it roll down on itself controll the stick... it does amazing things to your arms and wrists.. ;)
