Well to be honest you really should get a 4 stroke and depending on your size and weight you're gonna need a 250 or a 450.

If you are under 170 lbs you should get a 4 stroke 250.

If you are over 170 lbs you should get a 4 stroke 450.

Reason being, if you are new to riding, the 4 stroke bikes have a much more user friendly power curve. They require less throttle control skill for a new rider. Where the 2 strokes power curve is really abrupt and can sneak up on an inexperienced rider and get away from him or her.

cheers?

It depends on what kind of riding your gonna be doing & it also depends on your weight.Honda has the Crf250R-4 stroke that is strictly for motocross. If your new to riding I wouldn't go for a 2-stroke because the throttle control can sneak on you at any given time.I have a Honda 2 stroke & I always have to second guess the throttle control & it sucks.SO go 4-stroke it's a better decision.

you should go with a 4 stroke they have way more power and torque than a 2 stroke, they are also more rider friendly and the engines last longer.

Pound for pound a 2 stroke has more power. I don't know why people don't get that a 450 was designed to race a 250 2 stroke. But to answer your question, depends on what kind of riding you want to do and how much money you have. Most people are riding 4 strokes for racing and play riding, but a 2 stroke costs less and are cheaper to maintain. If you want to get into fmx I'd go 2 stroke. But there are guys doing it whith 4 strokes. I still prefer the 250 2 stroke. But I ride both 2 and 4.
