First off being a veggie person myself you are going down the right road. I do my work outs first thing in the morning. this is when you have the most stored energy to put into your workouts. I do not eat before a work out because digestion takes energy away from the body that can be redirected towards the work at hand. As a rule I do not eat no grains ect. till after 12 noon daily but I really load on the fruit until then. I eat 3 to 4 meals daily up till about 6pm. Alot of calories but all of them in grains live foods, no dairy, low fats. Your recupe time is actully pretty fast when you adhere to this type of lifestyle. I am not into building bulk, which would tie you up for mx anyway? This lifestyle eating IMO is perfect for the job at hand MX. I have no concerns about losing energy, wearing out ect out on the mx track. The only concern is losing to much body wieght, which is really easy to do if your not carefull. It is not for everybody, and I have been on the other side of the road also competitive bodybuilding some 14 years ago so I have tried alot of different theries. This of course is only my OP. When I am at the races I break out a bowl of rice and beans or a baked potatoe while everybody else is eating a burger and fries from the grease pit O I mean the concession stand. This may not mean alot but just my 2 cents. Now keep up on the ol work outs. :D

Maybe thats why i havent been seeing much improvement... i dont eat too much junkfood, its just i dont have well planned meals. I wake up at 5:30 and have to go to school by 6, so i dont want to eat, and i have to wait till lunch to eat, but most of the time, even tho its 1 o'clock and im still running on empty i decide to save my lunch money for a new 125, and my only real meal is dinner, which is usually junk food, cause my parents could really care less about what we're eating.. as long as they give us food we hve no reason to complain, RIGHT?

You need to change your eating habits quickly. I used to be like that, not eat till i was hungry, skiping breakfast. soon after I started eating right I noticed gains in my workouts, and I later saw a gain on the scale of 8lbs.
Take a min out of one of your days and plan out a meal plan. try to prepare the food you wiil eat the night before, that way in the morning you can just grab a bag and go. DONT skip breakfast. It is one of the most important meals of the day. RAsin Bran, Mini Wheats, and Otemeal is what I like to have in the morning.

Your waking up out of a 8 hour fast. Your body needs food ASAP. You sometimes may not even feel that hungry but you surley need it. Studies have proven that those who skip breakfast are not suffciently fueling their body for the day. Also skiping breakfast has been proven to reduce your metabolism. When I stated Rasin Bran Mini Wheats and Otemeal, I was just stating some of the breakfasts that I like to enjoy the most Oatmeal Espically! I figured someone needed to tell him that skiping breakfast does more harm than good.

This information is real and they are not of my own research. I read it in Mens Health, Fitness Magazine and Runners Digest. I dont feel like properly citing these sources, right now, but I will do so some other time if you request.

Brad thanks for the reply. I'm not debating that breakfast is the most vital meal of the day. I am just looking at the traditional american food choices for breakfast. The body is in it's elimination stages till approx. noon everyday why feed it a fruit and a carb at the same sitting when the body, in order to digest these two different types of food, requires two different enzimes to do the job. These two different enzimes cancel out one another in the body so how long does it take to properly digest all this, and how much energy does it waste. I eat strickly fruit in the morning because it is almost digested before hand not taking alot of enegy away from the body. I also eat no fruit after mid day. I have been doing this for years and it is only my op.. I am not out to cause any hassle with the great american diet it is not for everyone but it works for me.. Thanks again for the reply have a good one and keep riding. :D :D

Well I left out the fruit I enjoy in the morning, I was specifically stating the foods I like to eat for breakfast. I am not too picky on the fruit I eat, Although Bananas seem to go well with breakfast. Sometimes its Apples, Kiwi, Cantaloupe, or Oranges. Usually I just go with whatever I first see. I eat fruit and drink fruit juices constantly throughout the day, One after breakfast, one for snack, one after lunch, another snack, and two with dinner.
How does your body cancel out the food? I dont undersatand this research. Do you have a link to somewhere that I can read more on this?
Also I am confused because I thought that I have read that Fruits are full of Complex Carbohydrates wich are essential to your body? Are you saying the the 5 a day thing is useless? It seems to work for me. I have noticed a energy spike sustained throughout after only a few weeks of increasing my fruit intake.

I am sorry. I guess I need to dig out the ol Fit for Life book to refreash the brain, which is the info I refer to. It is protiens and carbs that take two different enzines to digest in the stomach and those two cancel out each other my bust.. I have ate like this for a long time now I need to brush up alittle now and then LOL.. The 5 fruits a day thing is not useless it is the american way of life. Fruits take approx 30 mins to digest in the system. They are a good sourse of water also. I'm so used to not eating fruits after noon it's second nature to me. A person can eat fruits but not with protiens at the same sitting. From noon to about 6 or 7 at nite is the body time to get the required proteins/ carb it needs which in my case is all live food as possible. I eat no dairy/ real low fats, no animal protein, and very low processed food. It is a very satifiying way for the body. To sum it up the ol dinner steak, baked potatoe, green veggies then dessert after the meal O cut the deserts. Like oatmeal with fruit in it, like processed cereal with fruit in it. I better stop this before I get hammered on for eating to strange or something LOL.. :D

"Like oatmeal with fruit in it, like processed cereal with fruit in it. I better stop this before I get hammered on for eating to strange or something LOL"
I have yet to meet anyone who considers Oats a desert. If its not a veggie its not worth eating :)
Processed cereal,
Well it is processed but here is the ingredient list for Post Shredded Wheat' n Bran....Whole Grain Wheat and Wheat Bran.
Thats pretty good for a processed food.

You said you have been on the other side before. Why the switch? Dont you think that Carmical, Reed, Stewart, and many other pros enjoy cereals, Fruits after noon and other non veggie foods like steak, chichken, eggs, turkey??

Im going to try the fruits before noon thing and see how that goes next week. How much fruit do you reccomend?

Why do you keep saying the "American Way" are you from somewhere else?

No need to dig the Fit for Life book out I am going to stop by the library tomarrow and see if I cant find it. Mabey I can find some useful info.

I consider oats with alittle honey a treat from time to time maybe even a desert type deal that's me. It is a grain and it is worth eating. The way I choose to eat is not all that different to some but it is a lifestyle I choose and it works for me. I am sure others enjoy meats eggs whatever I am not debating that I am just simply stating my own OP. It makes no difference to me what they eat. The fruit thing is eat when hungry. I may eat 2 banana's 1 canalop 1 smothy over the course of 6 hours sometimes less before noon. American way a figure of speech and 20 years serving in the military.
