I have a idea that will help solve your problem.
Buy a Shokspotr, it will tell you exactly when your helmet needs replacing.
Regarding the concussions, I have now 6 in under 5 years under my belt and their definitely something you don't want to mess with.

Shoei VFX-R. Great lid.
As for the concussions, teneighty has got it right. Your brain is not something to mess with. I have had one brain injury, and thats enough for me. Severe memory loss, stuff like that.... I mean, I lost the ability to do things that I never would have imagined were possible to lose. My injury was not motocross related, but we recently had a local kid have the same type of injury from motocross, so it can happen. Do what you have to do, because ignoring it can mess you up for the rest of your life.

Shokspotr's are like 24.99 I believe. Google them!
Also, if you look in product review section, we recently did a review on it.

HERES THE FULL STORY I WROTE IT FOR A SCHOOL PROJECT
THOUGHT MAYBE SOMEONE WOULD LIKE IT
LIFES SHORT (so live it by the throttle) Some people say I’m overly obsessed with dirt biking, they tell me my sports career ended due to the accident on my bike. Something that meant more to my whole family that it did to me. They say “I’m crazy if doctors, and trainers tell me one more hit to the head I could die so why do it?”, but if it weren’t for dirt biking life would be pointless to me. You see dirt biking to me is something where I feel free, that nothing can touch me, there’s nothing to worry about, I forget about how fucked up my life has been. No one would ever know how much it means to me unless they were riders themselves, and they’ve had a life like mine. Everyone thinks oh how hard could it be to sit on a motorcycle, and go around a track. Well ill tell u what I guarantee that anyone who says that, could never do what I do, or let alone make it around the track at least one lap. There’s a lot more to motocross then you think. The love, and passion that I have for this sport almost ended my life, but then again any serious dirt biker has had at least one close call to death if they ride hard. So I was out riding around my little home made track, it was hot out, and I wanted to get an intense ride in. So I go inside my house grab something to drink, and call up my friend Ry_DAWG. He decides to ride with me. Next think I remember it’s a month later, going back to the doctors to make sure that every thing is alright with me. So since I can’t remember this is what I was told happen. Ryan came out to my house five to ten minutes after getting off the phone with him where he found me laying on the ground unconscious my bike ten yards away from me. Then he ran inside yelled “Doc (that’s my dads nickname no he isn’t a doctor) something’s wrong with Curtis he’s not moving and breathing hard”. Ryan and my dad put me into Ryan’s car where my dad said that I just needed to lay down so Ryan drove me to my moms, where she decided I needed to go to the hospital, so they rushed me down to hospital. After a cat scan the doctors told my mother that I had a minor brain bleed, swelling in the front left part of brain, and a severe concussion. So from there they quickly rushed me down to a hospital in Milwaukee in case they needed to drill holes in my head which they didn’t thank god because that’s where they had doctors who specialized in brain injuries. Then from there my father who felt guilty after saying I needed to just laid down spent the whole time in the hospital with me. I came back home where I got excused from school for the last three weeks, and had no exams. Up this day there’s a whole month of my life that’s missing, and ill never remember what happen during that short time period, other then what I was told. I was told by doctors family members just about everyone I knew that I could never get back on the bike. It started a whole mess of arguing where I sat there and argued with just about every family member I had except for my aunt and uncle who have been supporting me my whole life through this expensive sport cause they knew how much this meant to me. So I argued and argued even screamed in rage at my own grandpa who said I can still due track then they finally realized that there was nothing that they could possibly due to stop me. You see there are no fears in the sport of motocross. You learn to accept death with just one wrong move; you could take a jump wrong, and have one to twenty dirt bikes land on top of you, and that’s common. But you don’t worry about that there’s more important things to worry about like winning or just enjoying what your doing. I learned the most valuable lesson of my life “Lifes Short” and unexpected things will happen to you and there’s absolutely nothing you can do. It would be point less to me if I lived life afraid that I’m going to die everyday instead I live life to its fullest. LIFES SHORT SO RIDE HARD
Thanks for all the advice

how can you expect a physician to tell you whether you should ride again or not without knowing your complete history, having seen your CT/MRIs etc. And it's amazing to me you didn't ask the same question of the physicians that were treating you, if you did not. Although I wouldn't believe it even if you said so. So what? you would trust somebody your life on a forum and not trust your PCP?
And this is the first time I am hearing of a MINOR brain bleed. Since when did brain bleeds become MINOR. Brain bleed is a life threatening situation and you are lucky to be alive in the first place. Know the mortality rate (chance of dying) is close to 50%.

A MINOR BRAIN BLEED IS A BRAIN BLEED THAT DOESNT INVOLVE SURGERY AND I WASNT ASKING THE DOCTOR AND GOING OFF OF WHAT HE HAD TO SAY DETERMINING ME IF I SHOULD RIDE OR NOT I WAS MORE ASKING WHAT SOMEONE WOULD DO IF THEY WERE IN MY SITUATION. WHICH HELPED ME OUT QUITE A BIT I STILL RIDE MY DOCTORS ARE AWARE OF ME RIDING STILL.
