Tryin to adjust the chain on my 03 CR125. I loosened the axle nut, then loosened the adjuster lock nuts. The adjuster bolt on the right side of the bike screws in and out fine, the bolt on the left side is frozen. Can't screw it in or out. I stopped tryin before i rounded off the head. Its soaking with wd-40 now. Is this a common problem? Any ideas?

I've never heard of that. Did you just pull it out from winter storage or something? If its honestly frozen, then bring it inside for 20 minutes, just roll it into your entre-way and let it sit in there. It should "unfreeze" in no time.

One problem that I had with CR85 Expert, was the threads on the actual thing that the nut spins on, that had a flat spot, but after I used the right size wrench, and carefully turned it past that flat spot, it was fine after I got it past that, but right before that, it was ALMOST impossible to move, but I was just careful. Make sure there isn't a flat spot in there, there could be one even on the back side, so just try and move it after a while, maybe wait till the WD-40 soaks in a little bit, then spray/wipe it off, then try. Good luck!

Sorry, I should have explained better. I'm in Louisiana, its 80 degrees here. I was using the term "frozen" as a figure of speech. I think the threads are messed up, but I don't know what caused it. Maybe pressure from pushing the axle?? I'm guessing this isn't a common problem.

it happens. can happen to any bolt. let it soakm in some penetrating oil for a while, then getm the correct size wrench (no adjustables, vise grips, or standard wrenches!) and put a pipe over it for more leverage.

Replace the bolt. Bring it to a hardware store and find it, it's not something that HAS to be Genuine Honda stuff as that will be WAY overpriced.

You might want to cut the head off of the bolt and use the "Swingarm Buddy." It's a kit specially made for this problem. Check out the link below.

ditto

that buddy thing is very drastic to get out a stubborn bolt

heat the area around where the bolt goes in (propare torch) careful, its aluminun,

heat it, wd40 it, try and get it out, etc etc,

theres always a way

Hmmm unless you can find a REALLY direct way to ONLY heat the hole (or space where the bolt goes in) I don't really see the affect of it.

Aluminum expands when heated, heating the hole (and the bolt since they're so close together) would just make it harder to get at.

Or what do you think Adam?

it will help, the bolt is more dense, wont heat as fast/easily,

so it should help, it could be what tips the scales and gets that lil bastard loose so you can get on with your life lol

Alrighty Adam, sounds like a decent answer.

Just keeping you on your toes (haha) plus it's kinda natural properties of metals that aluminum expands, ect.

Ok, I removed the rear wheel and used my heat gun which helped get me a couple of turns on the adjuster bolt but it broke off. Have about 1/4 inch sticking out. There is no turning it, it's frozen solid. I guess I should pull the swingarm and take it to a machine shop. Any thoughts? I have pictures, just don't know how to post them on the forum.
