What would be best? That is completly up to you my friend.

I am a fan of two strokes, and will probably always ride them. Where-as some people like four strokes better, it's personal preferance really.

250's do have alot of power to them and if your un-experianced that could be bad. But then again I have seen alot of noob's go straight to a 250 and be fine.

It's up to you bro.

well said

i think, if your quite mechanically inclinder (know what your doing) a 4 stroke wont be a problem, if not, a 2 stroke might be better

get you hands on a 250 (a buddies, maybe the dealer will let you play on one in the parking lot or somthing)

what 4 stroke are you coming off of?

i would get a 2 stroke
they are cheaper
easier to work on
very light
and the most important thing...fun to ride.

id say that with your size you could get a 250. Just go slow at first and get used to it because those things have insane power.

i think a 250 is a bad idea

i have a 250 now, after 3 years on a 125,

i personally dont think a 250 as a first bike is a great idea, way to much power,

I'm with Adam on this one I think.

Maybe you should look into a 125?

I'm a big guy(230-340 LBS), and I can haul on my 125 when I want to.

well, it seems you have your mind made up despite the great advice i see here from others who have ridden mx bikes a longer time than you have. sure you may have ridden street bikes and quads but an mx bike is a different beast. especdially if your riding it on tracks/trails where hittng a bump wrong can make you twist the throttle and turn straight into a tree or another rider. and it happens more than anyome likes to admit.

if you need to feel like your the man and have a big bike then just get a 250 fourstroke. that way you can tell all your friends you ride a 250 but still have a bike you may be able to manage.

and NO i do not recommend a 250 2-stroke as anyones first bike.

No offence dude, but I'm calling B.S.

There's no way you've ridden an R1 at 14 without killing yourself. Those are the most powerful machines on 2 wheels. Unless your like a motoGP rider from europe, I don't beleive it.

No sane person would let a 14 year old ride an R1
But If you have actually ridden one, dont screw around with a 250F or 125, get a 250 2stroke.
