What do you mean by 1700? Is that the max amount of money you are allowed to spend?

If so, I guarantee you won't find a 05 or 04 for this amount.

How tall/old are you?

If I were you, I would wait to get a new bike, an 04 or 05, but that's going to cost at least double the amount of what you can spend now. At least!

As far as what bike... what kind of riding are you going to be doing? Trails or track?

If track, then what class? 125 or 250?

What kind of bike do you want? 2 or 4-stroke?

I think a 250 2-stroke might be good for you, or, a 250 4-stroke. I don't think a 125 has quite the umf you want, that is... if your going to be racing.

No offence Jake but a 250 2-stroke, I think, would be a bit too much for a 14 year old who hasn't been riding a bike for 4 years.

I think a 125 2-stroke or a 250 4-stroke would be best for you. For the make just pick a colour.

I believe it comes down to the person.

Here in Germany we have a VERY fast rider (14 years old), who's about 5' 10"-170 lbs. who won the open class (any CC amount allowed) yesterday on a 250. Sure he has been riding since he was 4 which is a huge difference but I think it all comes down to the person and how they handle stuff.

I'm very confident in a few people I know (even those who don't ride at all) I could hand a CR500 to them and they wouldn't get hurt yet I know people who I actually ride with where I don't trust them riding a 50.
