I was riding at the track yesterday and I got out there on the track and I made it about halfway around the track on my first lap and I just fell over in a steep berm, because I had to slow way down. But the bike fell and it didnt even knock me off my feet. Not even worse than it tipping over in the pits. But I went to pick it back up and the bars have broke on the left side of the clamp. Im not sure how strong rethals spose to be, but there is no way they should have broke on just that.

Not sure if this is the cause, but maybe you tightened them in clamp to tight, I don't know, just a wild guess. But if there 7/8 bars, then I can kinda understand it, but still, WOW!! I think they might of had a crack in them, did you take a major fall on them before? Also, this time, get the Renthall Twinwall bars, those are strong!! You'll NEVER break/bend them. You probably don't like Renthal now, but I would give them another chance. I like Renthall and Pro Taper the best. So I would go with one of them.

Did you follow the instructions that came with the bars?
You know the ones that tell you to chamfer the bar clamps? If not, then that's why they broke. And if they broke at the clamp, that IS why they broke.

yea they are pretty strong, your musta had a glitch, or you hit them just right, or there was a flat spot, they dont bend that easy, and they certainly dont snap

Post a pic. Contact Renthal in a respectful and professional manner, my guess is they may re-imburse you with a new set.

I've seen 7 pairs of 7/8 Renthals snap in person. The stock bars for my CRF have never been mounted. I took my TAGs to the dealer and uncrated it myself.

Renthals snapping!
It does happen. Renthals 7/8 flex and they are designed to flex to soak up some of the jolt. Aluminum flexxing will get weaker through time, and I assume that next to the clamp is the highest stressed area on any handle bar. If the bars are really old or have seen too many crashes (and maybe slightly bent) they can snap on your next crash.
I personally have only had one renthal snap on me but I have heard of this happening to many people in the past.

Also, another idea that might have caused it was how you tied the bike down when you were transporiting it. If you used the metalish rubbery hooks that are on tie downs they pull in a specific area on the bars and make them weak. I use this material that is the same as tie downs that have to loops on the end and you use them to be softer and more gentle on your bars but still holds the bike in place.
