First off, I understand that many of you guys are patients of Dr. Sanders and have had amazing experiences with his practice and staff! I have read many positive testimonies and heard it first hand. That is why I entrusted him to cut on my body! However, my experience was a Nightmare!!!

The very first time I visited his office it was over crowded, injured people were standing up and complaining. After about two hours of waiting past my appt. time I was called in and then immediately sent down stairs for x rays. Another hour or two passed in the waiting room for the x rays. I was then sent back up stairs to Sanders office and had to wait again! They finally called my name and I got to speak to the “Doc” for an entire five minutes in which time he explained his diagnosis of the ligament tear in my hand and had his staff schedule my first surgery!

We Decided and agreed on a procedure involving a plastic or absorbable screw that would hold two of the small bones in my hand close while the ligament between them heals. I went in and had the surgery. Upon waking up from the anesthesia I was faced with the “Doc” asking me in an angry voice in front of my mom and girlfriend, why I did not by the cryo cuff, that it was a good device, and not to call him crying in the middle of the night when my hand hurt! That’s no way to for any Dr. to talk to any patient! The reason I did not purchase this device that reduces swelling is because my insurance did not cover it and the “MXDocs” Clinic said they would sell it to me for between four and five hundred dollars. I found it on the internet and it sells brand new for hundreds less http://www.cryocuff.com/, I just didn’t have time to get it before the surgery, and I am glad I didn’t buy one because free ice out of the freezer worked just fine!

On my second follow appointment about a month after surgery, I again waited another three to four hours while being put through the whole “office->x ray->office” system like every other visit and found out that the screw in my hand broke! I did tell him that I was working in the yard and did get a ride on the back of my girlfriend’s kx 85, but that I never used the injured hand. This may have been the reason for it to brake. Don’t know and don’t care. I agreed to a second surgery to fix it up.

I went in for the second surgery. I woke up this time from the anesthesia and found that Dr. Sanders had left. Usually from experience the Doc usually comes in, performs tests and lets you know that the surgery was a success. Not in this case! Two of the nurses were there to do the tests for him and I was sent home. The next morning I woke up and could not straighten out my middle finger at all and had horrible pain in my little and ring fingers. So I went in for the follow up a couple days later. I told him about the fingers and pain. He said he didn’t touch anything on that side of my hand even though my hand was fine until he drilled and inserted a screw into my hand. He could have evaluated the problem and at least explained what could be wrong. He then slapped my elbow and asked if I felt any electricity? When I said yes, he said it was my funny bone? I left with no confidence or explanation for the pain that kept me awake for like two weeks!!

On my second follow about a month later, after waiting as usual for hours I was sent down to get my splint adjusted. When I was getting the splint adjusted I showed the physical therapist my fingers and she said that was not normal! When getting my splint looked at by Dr Sanders I showed him my finger. He told me to put my forearm against the wall with my palm down and fingers towards the ceiling. He then put both of his hands on my hand and began to push with all his body weight..lol! When I told him that it hurt and my finger does not work!! He told me to make it happen and he sent me down for some physical therapy. With no evaluation or explanation I left his office blind again with no confidence that my fingers or hand would get better. That was enough!

The last time I stepped foot in his office was after speaking to his staff and agreeing that I could pick up my post operative reports the following morning. Well I was not surprised after sitting in traffic from Katy, Tx. for two hours to find that when I walked in to get the documents that his staff said the records were destroyed in the hurricane! Shouldn’t that be on file in a computer with back ups! Yeah kind of fishy!! Anyway, they could have called early that morning and informed me of the situation, so I didn’t have to drive and waste all that time for nothing! She then said she would keep me posted, well I am still waiting! No documents yet! I will have to call the hospital and get them myself to help get to the bottom of my problems and get me back on my bike asap!

My first surgery was on 7-7-8 and the second one on 8-11-8. Still to this day, after believing Dr. Sanders “Mx” outlook on getting back asap and getting it done right the first time! I can not feel my little finger or my ring finger on my left hand and my middle finger still does not straighten out! I also have a permanent screw in my hand that is a partial wrist fusion that the Doc Sanders warned against when I posted what an “Acutal Hand “specialist” was going to do to prevent a wrist fusion that I am for ever stuck with now thanks to the Doc!

I am currently with a Dr. that is a hand specialist and an awesome sports medicine Dr. that really takes the time to explain to me what might be wrong and how he can help me to the best of his knowledge. Just walking into the office of this Dr. and feeling the comforting and professional atmosphere you get from the staff gave me a feeling of hope! After losing it for so long now!

This is my personal experience and I understand that many of you have hade excellent outcomes from this clinic. I just hope that everyone may choose a Doctor based on the care and respect that the practice gives to you. I pray that adults that get injured or parents of children that get injured do not! Pick Doctors based on being cool because they say they participate in a certain sport or because they have worked on a professional athlete. As soon as you get an uneasy feeling about a Dr. or even the office get up and leave! You deserve to be treated with respect and the right to know whats going on at all times when visiting a Dr and nothing less. It is what you are paying for!!!
