Hi, i was just wondering what my next bike should be ill tell you what im into and i'd like to know what everyone thinks i should do, about me. I'm 14 i ride trails i dont really race just at a friend track, im 5.9/5.10 ft tall i know i can lower the shocks on them but what bike will best fit my needs, i do both race and trails. This may sound like a stupid Q. because of the 2 stoke i personally think i should get the 250 if i can handle it. I'd also like to hear what you think of each of the bikes. Thanks

Hey man if you race and to trails I would go with the crf250x.
Its green sticker so you can ride on any trail, and you can still do the MX stuff on it. Plus it has electric start so it makes life easier if you stall it in the tight trails.

If you're going to ride both trails and motocross tracks get the 250F. I rode a CRF150R and a KX85 in the woods, and the 150R was much easier. I'm not that good in the woods anyways, but the 150R made it easier because on the KX you have to stay on the gas to keep it running well.

Go for the YZ 250 2stroke, if that's not a choice for you, go for the 250F. BTW yamaha is a good choice.

I would go for the 125 2 stroke. Why do you need a 250 in tight trails. It has too much power. I have a 125 and I am 6ft and 170 pounds. The 125 is light enough in the trails to get me through tight situations and has the power the on the track as well. Get an older model 125 and save. I have a 98YZ125. Put some pipes on it, an new reed and air filter and your set. 125 two stroke I think is a better choice.

Hey, you could take advice from a 12 year old or a 32 year old who has been riding for 15 plus years. A 125 would be ideal for your riding style. A 250 could work but it solely depends on you. I think being on a lighter bike would work best in the woods...but again, who am I.

I have been actively riding Enduro/ Hare Scrambles with some very tight trails. In my off time, the trails where I grew up are tight as well. I went the 125 route and have been happy with my choice. I always hear that you might aim for a bigger bike with more horsepower because you will soon crave the need for more power but I am just thinking about saving a buck or two.

If ur gonna be ridin alot a trails and a little on tracks[thats what my dad does]then I would think about the Honda crf250x its ment for that type of thing, that is the bike my dad uses and has never has had a broblem and its got like 150hrs on it and it works fine, on a gp style track and even a more sx style track I go to,but yes a 125 will do both but it can be hard not to stall it in the woods but you can fix that with a flywheel so either way you would be happy. I would go to my dealer and try both bikes for my self before I make up my mind, and once you decide look for a good used bike,it will save you alot of money!

Either the 125 or the 250f will fine for trail riding. The 250f is gonna take less work to ride and you will probably be faster on it. Maintnence on the the 250f however is more expensive and much more complicated. Either way you should be fine though.

Hey man I just got off the Yamaha site and the WR250F is well what I think perfect. It's like the Honda 250x I told you about, but this is a Yamaha.
Go check it out:

yea "Big Al" is right thats another good bike, the nice thing about the crf250x is most, not all but most parts that fit the crf250r will fit the crf250x from about 05/0?.my dad loves his crf250x and it works fine for mx,and great for enduro!
I can't speak for the wr250f,but I know its a good bike

Forget riding that YZ 125 in the woods. What a pain....I know because I did it! I made my YZ125 about as good as it can get in the woods. And it still was no match for either my CRF250 or my KTM 200EX/C.
The YZ 125 is for the track....it doesn't have the torque and smoothness of power delivery needed for trail riding. The YZF/CRF/RM-Z/KXF can do both pretty well. I'm no 4-stroke fan but having owned both at the same time (YZ125 and CRF250) I know which one is better for all around riding.
