I have a 2004 Rmz 250. I had my valves replaced by a local dealer a while back. After getting the bike back I have gotten about seven hours on it. I have had to shim twice. After the first shim I only got 2 hours before I had to shim only one intake valve again. Original springs in motor. I was thinking that maybe this would be the next issue I would address. I was thinking I could get aftermarket spings and hopefully keep the same valves. I'm looking at getting a new bike next year so I would like to keep the same valves if possible. Just wondering what you guys think.

Hey man have a good read of that post in this section that has been posted by eric gorr and will give you a really good insight into the maintenance that is required on the current four strokes. But, just quickly, if you did have stainless valves put into your head you definitely needed to have new heavier springs put in, but if you just replaced the standard valves with genuine the springs still should have had the springs replaced at the same time as the valves.

once again that bike and the 04 kxf are cockroaches.they were both last ditch efforts by both companys to put out a 4stroke.theres hardly any r&r to those bikes.inless you really like the bike for some wierd reason or you just own stock in valves id get rid of it and buy a yzf....the dont gernade......
