i have an 04 yz250 now and they just rip. id say get some seat time on a 125 first. my brother tried riding my 250 and hes been riding since he was 10 hes 20 now and he didnt even get a full minute on my bike and crashed it 2 times and sprained his ankle pretty bad. needless to say he wont be riding my bike again and he says hes had enough of the 250s and doesnt want to be on one again.
i dont think you can go wrong with a yamaha 125 or 250. but make sure you ride the bike before buying one because you may get the 250 and decide it has too much power afterwords. im not usually a person to recommend a 125 to someone who wants a 250 because i transitioned from an 80 to a 250 but you have fairly little experience on a bike and you should learn on a 125 the move to a 250 or risk serious injury.
