OK, I was changing my tranny oil. I warmed the bike up, and then drained the oil. Then I put that bolt on the bottom back in, and took off the top plug where you add the new oil. I also took off that little bolt that tells you when you have enough oil (oil will come pouring out of it when there is enough.) Anyway, I go to put the little bolt back on, and I think I went a bit to tight. It tightens to a point, then loosens. What can I do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????????????

A.buy new cases

it needs to be rethreaded cuz the threads are stripped. heres what to do. pull that plug back out and look if the threads on the bolt itself are stripped. if they are, u are lucky. get a new bolt. if the threads on the bolt are fine (this is prolly what u will find) then the case is stripped. get a tap and dye set. u might have to drill the hole out a little bit so u can use the next size up tap. or u can pull the case half off and have a machine shop do it. i gotta do this same thing to my drain bolt on the water pump cover. i unscrewed it, and i went to put it back in, and all the threads on the cover are GONE. the kid b4 me musta wrecked it cuz it didnt feel right coming out and i know i didnt ever tighten it when putting it in. i suggest getting a tap and dye set from harbor freight, tool crib, or northern hydrolic (sp?). they will prolly have the cheapest stuff u can find. watch out though, it was either northern or harbor freight that screws u on shipping, i dont recall

Take it to a machine shop and have them put a Heli-coil in it. The threads will be stronger and much less likely to strip out.

Helicoiling is easy enough to do yourself.

You will need to pull the case though, you don't want shavings in there.

For drain plugs, I've always reccomended to pay to have them put in. If something goes wrong, their fault. It should be around 50-70 dollars for a place to put them in.

Huh?

Isn't it easy enough to do with a 17 mm socket? LOL

Haha, it's good we have the 'Check-Up Trio' (you, me, and Adam) to check up and clarify one another.
