I heard the only YZF to get the aluminum frame will be the 250f and not the 450f. Don't know if there's any truth to it though.

someone else on here posted pics w/ both the 250f and the 450f...and both have the aluminum frames.

Yeah this was posted up a few weeks back, but it's obviously news to some people.

That's not a great picture either, it's impossible to tell what kind of frame is on the bike from that pic.

its easy to tell that frame is aluminum. because that frame is powdercoated and you can only powder coat aluminum
plus ive noticed diffrent parts on that bike from the current 05 YZF bikes like the suspenstion on the engine looks diffrent
as well as the kickstarter is diffrent from the 05

How can you tell it's powdercoated though? I know it definitely is, but how can you tell by just looking at it?

There's a lot of changes on that bike, all the plastic's are different too incase you hadn't noticed.

i was going to say

you can powdercoat pretty much any metal, anodize only aluminum


and see if you can fnd brian (grizzly) old topic on the alum framed yzf, its got even more better pictures

I think you can anodize Ti also.

Your thinking about anodizing. You can only anodize aluminum, pretty much anything solid can be powdercoated (spare wood and a few other things).

yes i was thinking of anodizing my bad. but that frame looks anodized from my veiw...but it could be just the fresh yamaha blue paint making me think that....but we all no now its a aluminum frame
