Dear Lisa and Grodzicki family
I struggle with what words to write becuase no matter what I say it will never be enough. I was at the race with my 15 year old son who is also chasing the MX dream. As a MX parent its hard to explain to people why we allow our children to compete in a sport that has the dangers of Motocross. I can not imagine how your feeling and I can not imagine the thoughts of what could you have done differently. All I know is that the kids competeing at this level love the sport more then anyone can possibly imagine. Our son has had his share of broken bones and surgery’s and we have often wanted him to stop racing. One night he told me that if we took motocross away from him that a part of him would die inside becuase he loves what he does so much. As a parent we all want our children to have dreams and to pursue their dreams with everything they have. I am sure your son was the exact same way becuase I have not met a rider at this level that doesnt feel this way. They put everything they have into training, eating and getting faster. I hope and pray that as a sport people start looking at the track designs closer and make the tracks as safe as possible for these young riders. I strongly believe that the track had more to do with the accident then anything else. Our prayers are with you and your entire family and I can only hope you can find some peace in the fact that he was doing what he loved and it had nothing to do with your decision to allow him to race. We had a 14 hour drive home from the race and all my son and I could think about was you and your family. I have thought about your family every day since that day and I want you to know that there is another MX parent out there that is thinking of you and parying for you each and everyday. If there was anything we could do for you we would certainly do it.
