Quick look at Hangtown: Pre Race

Friday Day Sun Action and Non-action

THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM: FRIDAY AT HANGTOWN

Photos and Typos: Scott Hoffman

While the big rigs entered the Hangtown pits on Friday morning, the track in the backdrop was a sea of action. Not only was there amateur racing and the Go Pro Crossover Challenge, but you had the Dirt Digger staff and MX Sport Crew all diligently getting ready for the racing storm that will kickoff Saturday morning. Banners, posters, stakes, and dirt were flying all over the track, and in the pits a mini race city was being erected and will fall just as fast Saturday after all the action has gone down.

James Stewart’s bike was armed and ready for action as was Ryan Dungey’s and the slew of riders that will switch brands or bike sizes for the Lucas Oil Outdoor Motocross Championship. Kyle Regal on Joe Gibbs Racing, Will Hahn on Canard’s Factory Honda, Ivan Tedesco on a Monster Energy PC KX250F, and Tyla Rattray will be riding a Factory Kawasaki 450.

Following a fairly bizarre supercross season the slate is now clear to start the Nationals. With some of the big hitters as spectators (defending champion Ryan Villopoto, Chad Reed, and Trey Canard to name a few) the field is open, yet my money is on either Dungey or Stewart.

Here are a few shots of the semi-calm before the storm.
