The top racers showed up the day before the big day and the chance to win a million dollar prize for winning all three motos. It was great to see Chad Reed and Ryan Villopoto back on the stage and eager to get back to racing. KTM’s Ryan Dungey was there as well as Honda’s newest Factory rider Justin Barcia. Yamaha had returning JGR rider Justin Brayton talking about his new/old team and his prep for the race.

Some of the big news for the 2013 SX season was the return of the KTM Jr SX Challenge. The little guys will not be at every event but in major markets little guys/girls will be racing SX for the first time. As it turns out the program does work. Ryan Dungey’s first taste of supercross was as a youngster aboard a KTM 50.

The Monster Energy Cup is big business and the race will be televised all over the world.

-Other big news is the announcement of Chad Reed’s team TwoTwo Motorsports to the Monster Family. Yes CR is back with Monster for 2012.

Notes from Feld:
The 2012 Monster Energy Cup features an all-new track design inspired by five-time Supercross Class Champion Ricky Carmichael. The Carmichael-inspired track design will consist of supercross and motocross obstacles unlike any other racetrack design in the world. New to this year’s track will be a 200′ banked sweeping turn that will be built in the stands, two 11-rider starting gates split by 220′ before they converge at the apex of the 300′ start straight and the joker lane that riders will have to race through at least once during laps 2-10. After racing through these sections of the track, fans will be treated to equally exciting racing lanes that are built into the Monster Energy Fan Zone, which is located outside of the stadium. The Monster Energy Cup posts a $250,000 purse with the winner walking away with a $100,000 check, and any rider that wins all three Main Events will take home $1 million.
