Inside Scoop: Scott Sports 2012 Product Line
All-New Gear, Goggles and Goodies From Scott!
Let’s play 20 questions: I’m thinking of a kickass company in Idaho that produces top-of-the-line goggles, gear and protective wear as well as skis, running shoes, parkas with furry hood-liners and complete mountain/ road bikes. Give up? The organization I’m thinking of is none other than Scott Sports, and after visiting their palatial Sun Valley-based headquarters—right at the base of a ski hill, mind you—I’m also thinking that we should move the Motocross.com offices up to Idaho…. the place is that cool!
The reason for my visit was the release of Scott’s 2012 product line, which features more new prints, designs and options than ever before. What follows is an inside look at what Scott has to offer for the new season.
Scott’s latest gear line features both motocross and off-road applications, with helmets, boots and guards that work for both. Products are named with numbers (such as the 250 boot or 450 pant) that refer to that particular item’s target rider, with the 250 designation being more mid-level and 450 products geared toward the serious racer.
Scott marketing genius Kevin Strickwerda shows off some of the brand’s latest outdoor gear, including his stylish ski helmet that looks like it was designed for a much more feminine customer. The company is gaining ground in winter markets, and their line of ski, snowboard and snowmobile apparel and accessories is impressive.
Most of the new Scott helmets have designs that complement 2012 gear colorways, although there are a few in the lineup that can be paired with almost anything. We dig the clean look of the new black/ white lids.
The 2012 gear itself sees a number of revisions for the new season, with extra emphasis being placed on race-tested function and comfort in extreme conditions. The pure sweat of some of Scott’s top pros helped make this line what it is.
With all the new goodies, it’s only natural for Scott to have a fresh lineup of gear bags to cram all that stuff into. The hydration packs are an added bonus.
A leader in motorsports eyewear, Scott continued to push the envelope for 2012. Their new goggle line is incredible.
Hey look, Scott trail running shoes! Is there anything these guys don’t make?
Scott has made several changes to their boot line for 2012, including a redesigned sole for even greater durability and feel. The chest protectors and body armor are once again being offered, with a new chest protector, the Commander (visible in bottom left), set for release soon.
Who doesn’t love a good bicycle? The new road bikes from Scott are highly trick pieces of equipment that have been produced with input from the world’s best cyclists. You have to see these things in person to really understand how killer they are!
