Chad did NOT run out of talent – he DID run out of luck. My gut is telling me to tell the Champ: “Go see Ricky Carmichael or Marcos Ambrose & see if a 5-pt harness & roll cage can satisfy your need for speed” I know it’s not the same, you DO still have it, you still have the speed, but you have arrived at the downward side of the curve. Not to say that you made ANY mistake in that crash. I WHOLLY believe that your boot got caught on the shifter upon launch, possibly yanking a neutral, maybe between gears, your “panic rev” did NOT raise the front ONE bit, total nosedive, could not have been in gear. Consider, you have a son to throw a football to some day. He needs siblings. Don’t put yourself in a wheelchair. Maybe stadium trucks? I would feel that I owe it to my wife & kids to remain unparalyzed & devoted to their livelyhood. You have nothing more to prove – go out gracefully on top. Your fans will never desert you, we will faithfully follow you into your new sport. It was oh so painful to watch Richard Petty & Darryl Waltrip continue trying to come back after injuries & beyond their prime. Dale Earnhardt. Tragic. I can’t think of mx’ers who beat a dead horse, trying to come back injury after injury, there’s been so many. DeCoster. Brad Lackey. McGrath stayed too long. Maybe Pastrana. Canard is WAY talented & oh so smooth, but if injuries continue, his edge may well become a limiting mental block. Just a fact of life. RC set a GREAT example, The GOAT did it right. Peace out, Chad, Champ.

Sure looked to me like a neutral-gear, or between-gears nosedive. Maybe his left boot was already hooked on the shifter or footpeg as he went up, distracted him???

Great job on the shots, Pete! I wondered where you were this weekend.
Hopefully Reeds injury isn’t anything major, and we can see him battling next weekend!
