In the middle of a hectic Outdoor National MX race, there’s not much opportunity for a mechanic to communicate with his rider—other than through the legendary pit board, that is. For a few short seconds each lap, this handheld dry erase apparatus serves as the link between a racer and his crew, often communicating valuable information about current events in the blink of an eye. Of course, the messages themselves have to be concise and to the point, and they also have to be helpful. We snapped a few shots in the mechanic’s area of a recent national to help gain a glimpse at just what these wrenches are saying mid-race. Check it:
