Jeff Kargola, a popular freestyle motocross rider from San Clemente, Calif., died Friday morning of injuries sustained during a crash on the second day of the annual Rip to the Tip adventure ride down the Mexico’s rugged Baja California peninsula. He was 27.

Following a epic event in 2010, it was sad to hear the race was not going to take place in 2011. Yet just the other day there was a post on Facebook that stated the city agreed to bring back the event in 2012. It looks as if they are cutting out the middle man (The Promoter) and the city will do it themselves. The claim to plan a week-long event around the race with all sorts of activities.

GEICO Powersports Honda’s Justin Barcia, known for his aggressive racing style and awesome raw speed, won round one of the Lites East Supercross Championship, but then he went down hard in practice at round two in Atlanta. At the time, he thought he had just sprained something in his hand or wrist, but it turned out that he has two fractures in the hand/wrist.
