The Rocky Mountain ATV/MC World Off Road Championship series is rapidly approaching the half-way mark and it's make or break time for nearly all involved.

| Dietrich charging hard at Havasu. |
Ricky Dietrich has handily won three out of four so far, and would likely be undefeated if it weren't for a blown radiator hose at Round 2 while he was leading. A long pit stop took him from leading to 23rd and then back to 6th only to have to pit again, putting him in 24th at the finish. No doubt that is a disastrous finish, his three wins in the other rounds though have still put him in control of the championship chase by 9 points going in to Round 5.
A win for him this weekend at Honey Lake could be the nail in the coffin for the rest of the field. After Honey Lake, the WORCS crew will be visiting Washington for the next three rounds. Ricky is a Washington native and has been very tough to beat there in the past... he could be almost impossible to beat if he had the momentum of a 3-race win streak on his side along with the home-field advantage.
However, Nathan Woods is notoriously fast at Honey Lake and I'm sure he's ready to prove a point after starting the year off strong and then tallying two bad finishes in a row. If he wants any shot at the number one plate, he's got to make something happen, and fast.
Justin Soule (pictured above) could also be a threat to win, he grew up right down the road in Reno so this is his home race. He has been close to winning before and the added home turf advantage this weekend could be just what he needs for that breakthrough ride. A hole-shot for him could make for an interesting race.

| Timmy Weigand |
Speaking of holeshots, if it's not Soule out front off the start there's a good chance it'll be JCR Honda's Timmy Weigand. Timmy won the AMA Western Hare Scarmbles at Hollister a few weeks ago and then followed it up with a 2nd place to Dietrich at the WORCS Round the following weekend. He can definitely lead off the start and it seems like it's only a matter of time before he is leading one of these things all the way to the end.
You can be sure that the '09 Supercross series won't be the only down-to-the-wire racing this season. Keep an eye on this series because you never know who's going to finish this one out on the top of the podium.
