This year's trip to Las Vegas for the Supercross was much more to me than going
to watch a race. I thought I would pack everything I could into 48 hours, and I sure did! I was asked a few months ago if I would like to shoot photos for the Road2Recovery Foundation Charity Golf Tournament, it's such a great cause, I just had to say yes. I rolled into town around 10:00 A.M. on Friday morning, early of all things, but it gave me some time to check out the scene and the schedule for the day. The first thing I noticed was a badass Range Rover parked right next to me, with some Scheckler Racing stickers on it. I didn't think it could be related to the skater, turns out I was wrong. Ryan was one of golfers supporting the tournament along with his family.
There was an abundance of raffle prizes being offered by companies such as DVS, OGIO, Rockwell, Moto Art, and the list goes on. Monster is the title sponsor of the event and they don't hold back with their generosity. The 6th
hole was designated as the Monster Hole and had huge tent set up with a full bar, a DJ, and some very comfortable couches. I had two options once the golfing started, one was to try and rush around the course trying to get photos of everybody, all the while trying not to get hit by stray balls which there were a lot of, or I could just hang at the Monster tent and wait for everybody to come to me. I chose the latter. How do you deny free drinks and 8 Monster girls to hang out with all day! A few notables that came through were Josh Grant who hits the ball really well, and Davi Milsaps who doesn't. No offense Davi, your form looked good though. I also spotted Nathan Ramsey and Michael Byrne too. The biggest name to roll through was none other than Chad Reed. Chad has been a major supporter of the event for several years now, and even goes as far as sponsoring the entire awards dinner for all of the participants. He didn't just pull an obligatory quick showing either, he shot 18 and stayed for the dinner until its conclusion.
All in all it was a great day for a great reason. If you are in Vegas next year, you should stop by and check it out!
