Alpinestars has been in the business of making quality foot protection for quite some time now, and with their newest addition, the Tech 7, to their ever-growing boot line up, they’re continuing the long tradition of high quality.

At first glace, the boot appears to look a lot like the popular Tech 10, and once you look a little closer you’ll find that the Tech 7 actually shares quite a few key features with the highly advanced Tech 10. A few of the features are the outsole and buckling system. The buckles are made to stay shut no matter what, and the outsole is designed to keep you safe in the event of a hard hit to the boot. As for other design characteristics, the toebox on the Tech 7 is manufactured through a duel-injection process to help make it stronger, while the molded calf/shin area also helps to elevate the safety factor significantly. Like other Alpinstars boots, the Tech 7 has a replaceable sole, which no doubt lengthens the overall life of the boot.

When we first slipped on the Tech 7, we were impressed. While this boot does share some designs with the Tech 10 and Tech 8, one that it doesn’t share is an inner booty. The Tech 7 comes without one, and for anyone that likes boots without an inner booty, these are probably some of the most comfortable out there. After only a few laps, we felt right at home in the boots, as the break-in time was next to nothing. One thing that we did notice, though, was that the large heal seemed to take a little getting used to, as it gives you an elevated feel while walking around the pits. On the bike, however, that is probably a good thing since the heal helps keep your foot on the peg. We’ve been riding in these boots for quite some time now, and they haven’t worn out, they just keep getting more comfortable.

RATING

A few weeks ago we rated the Fox F3 boot rather high even though it doesn’t come with an inner booty and also isn’t a hinge boot. Now, that we have ridden in the Tech 7, though—a boot that also doesn’t have an inner booty or hinge—we are beginning to become even bigger fans of boots like these. The Tech 7 is comfortable, durable, and will probably protect you from nearly anything you can throw at it. And with the reputation that Alpinestars has in manufacturing high quality protective gear, this new affordable boot is nearly a sure bet.
